Minimum 2 years relevant work experience and at least 21 years of age, OR three MQF Level 4 single subject qualifications (A-levels) and at least 18, OR one MQF Level 4 qualification of at least 120 ECTS and at least 18, OR MATSEC Matriculation Certificate, OR SEC passes (Grade 5 or better) in English, Maths and one other subject; other equivalent qualifications considered case-by-case.

Your application pack

When to apply, what to have ready, and the details to copy into the official form. You submit it yourself.

Apply after you finish – within 12 months of completing the course, online through the Get Qualified portal using your e-ID. You can make up to 4 applications in any 5 years.

Have these ready to upload

Acceptance letter – from the college, showing the start date
Invoices and proof of payment – for every payment you made
Certificate or transcript – showing you completed the course
Declaration that the costs aren't reimbursed – e.g. by your employer
De minimis declaration – only if the course relates to your own business or self-employment

After approval

You'll get a Tax Credit Certificate in the portal. Check whether the credit already shows on your income tax statement; if not, send the Commissioner for Revenue an adjustment form and the RA10 form with copies of the certificates. Unused credit can be carried forward for up to 15 years.
