Get Qualified or MySkills – which suits me?
If you're employed and the course is on both lists, MySkills usually leaves you paying less: 80% back in cash, up to €5,000, against Get Qualified's 70% tax credit. Get Qualified is the one for the self-employed, for courses not in the MySkills catalogue, and for expensive courses with a high cap (such as a Master's costing over about €7,150), where its credit can pass MySkills' €5,000 limit.
Checked against the official rules on 14 October 2026.

What comes back on the same course
A course at MQF level 7 worth 60 ECTS (Get Qualified cap €10,200), on both lists, for someone employed:
| Fee | Get Qualified | MySkills (employed) | Better for you |
|---|---|---|---|
| €1,000 | €700 | €800 | MySkills |
| €4,000 | €2,800 | €3,200 | MySkills |
| €8,000 | €5,600 | €5,000 | Get Qualified |
| €12,000 | €8,400 | €5,000 | Get Qualified |
Not working? MySkills refunds 100% (up to €5,000), so it is almost always the better choice. Lower caps at other levels can change the answer: the calculator works it out for your course.
Questions
- Can I use both schemes for one course?
- No. You choose one scheme per course. A course paid through MySkills can't also be claimed under Get Qualified.
- Can I use Get Qualified for one course and MySkills for another?
- Yes. The one-scheme rule is per course, so different courses can go through different schemes.
- My employer is paying. Can I still claim?
- No for both: you must pay the course yourself and it must be your own choice. Employers training their staff can apply to Jobsplus's Investing in Skills scheme instead.
- Which is quicker?
- MySkills pays a cash refund once you finish and send in your certificate. Get Qualified reduces your income tax, so the benefit comes through your tax over the following years.
